Singapore and More

Singapore is a very small country in Asia. It is extremely clean and very safe for travelers. There are four main languages that include English, Mandarin Chinese, Malay, and Tamil. Singlish is also a staple form of communication here. The currency is the Singapore Dollar.

Some very popular places to visit in Singapore include Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, the Esplanade with the Merlion, Raffles Hotel, the City Hall area, and so much more! It's impossible to see everything but certainly worth attempting.

I've come to know Singapore well as a result of simply getting outside and exploring. Singapore is very hot and sometimes quite rainy. There are two seasons here-dry and rainy. Sometimes they get confused! Almost everyone has a water bottle and umbrella with them all the time. It's wise to do so.

One of my biggest worries when I first arrived in Singapore was navigating the MRT system. It's the mass rapid transit. In large cities around the world, if you're not familiar with public transportation, it can be rather dangerous. It is not like that at all in Singapore. The MRT, once you brave it, is actually very easy to understand. For the first few days here, it made me nervous. Finally, I decided I needed to get over it and I just took a ride by myself and figured it out. I have now been all over Singapore using the MRT and as long as I can get to an MRT station, I have no worries about where I am.

Hawker Centers are very popular in Singapore. There are many food stalls where one can find many different types of food including Halal and non-Halal.

Shopping malls are abundant in Singapore. You can shop until your heart is content or your wallet is empty!

Since shortly after my arrival in Singapore, I became addicted to Milo. It's a chocolate drink that is served either hot or cold. My preference is Milo Ice. If you really want a lot of chocolate, I recommend the Milo Dinosaur!

Singapore is a busy, bustling place. People always seem to be in a hurry. For what, I have not quite figured out. I have realized, once you get to know people, the majority of Singaporeans are very nice and helpful.
