Mr. Alex LaRocca - Orchestra Teacher
Hello! My name is Alex LaRocca and I am the orchestra teacher at John Marshall Elementary School. I am a string player who has a passion for teaching music to my students and the community.
I studied music education at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University (go Scarlet Knights!) and received my Masters of the Arts in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University.
Throughout my musical career, I have played many styles of music with different performers, bands, orchestras, and theaters, ranging from classical to country to punk to musicals to hiphop and beyond.
I believe music has the capacity to bring great joy to anyone's life, whether it be through performing, listening, dancing, or attending a live performance. There are countless ways to make meaningful connections to music which are relevant to your life and experiences.
Participating in a musical ensemble will develop more than a person's musical skills. Students will have constant opportunities to build their social skills by working and performing with other musicians to achieve a unified goal. Additionally, students will be developing their emotional skills by making emotional connections to the music they make and by expressing themselves through musical performance.
Thank you for supporting your children and the arts here at John Marshall Elementary School!
Sincerely,
Alex LaRocca
