We Want YOU
to join Band, Chorus, and Orchestra!
Do you like music? Does singing or playing your favorite songs sound like fun? Then you MUST join the music program at John Marshall, where the students learn new skills, make new friends, and make music together.
You can choose to sing, play a band instrument (trumpet, clarinet, trombone, saxophone, or flute) or an orchestra instrument (cello, viola, or violin). All you need is the desire to learn, dedication to succeed, and a positive attitude.
First step ( 1 of 4 ) - choose which instrument you want to learn. Please watch the short videos about all possible options you can choose from.
Please note: You will be able to play an instrument AND sing in the Chorus next year, but at this time, you are only selecting the instrument you want to learn to play.

Second Step ( 2 of 4 ) - Have your parents fill out the registration form.
Third Step ( 3 of 4 ) - Wait for Confirmation email and/or letter prior to renting an instrument. Acceptance letters will be handed out in school.
Fourth Step ( 4 of 4 ) - Rent an Instrument (Band/Orchestra).
Recommended District Vendors for renting instruments. They bring instruments right to the school with everything you need to play.
Music Shop - Prices will be there once you select what district and school your child attends.

Recommended Additions: 1. Music Stand (everyone) 2. Shoulder Rest - Violin and Violas. 3. Extra #2.5 Reeds (REQUIRED) for all Clarinets and Saxophones
Violin and Viola Sizes
Choose 3/4 violin or 13” viola if your child is under 5'4" feet.
Choose 1/2 violin or 12" viola if your child is 4' or under.
*Do not rent a 14" viola or 4/4 violin.
Cello Sizes
Choose 1/2 cello if your child is under 5'4" and above 4'.
Choose 1/4 cello if your child is 4' or under.
*Do not rent a 3/4 size cello.
Bass Size
Please choose 1/4 Bass ONLY.
BUYER BEWARE!!! Please do NOT buy an instrument during your first year of learning. Often, students change their minds, and inexpensive instruments purchased from Amazon are impossible to play and lead to frustration and not playing at all. If in doubt, please reach out to your teacher first.
