Mr. Brian Harkavy - Band Teacher

Welcome! My name is Mr. Brian Harkavy, and I am thrilled to be the Band teacher at John Marshall Elementary School. I earned my degree in Music Education from West Chester University (Go Rams!), where I specialized in instrumental instruction. I am dedicated to sharing the joy of music with my students and helping them discover the power of creativity through instruments and performance. I look forward to an exciting year of making music together!

I started playing trombone nearly 20 years ago. In that time I have played in various performing ensembles including concert band, marching band, community bands, jazz band, rock bands, and musical theater.

I believe that each student has their own place in music. Whether it's learning to play an instrument, singing, or even working to become a professional musician, there is a place for everybody.

Band is one of the best and most hands on opportunities for a student to explore their creativity. If students continue to play in band throughout their Edison career, they will have tons of exciting performances to look forward to like playing in a full sized concert band, performing a concert at six flags, marching down Main St at Disney World in Orlando, and much more.
