AVID is an elective class that develops the following skills through its curriculum: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading. Students learn and apply strategies in critical-reading, organization, focused note taking, and goal-setting to enhance skills and access high level curriculum in preparation for college. Students participate in a group tutoring process, go on field trips, including college visits, team-building, service-learning and authentic research. While enrolled in AVID, students are also enrolled in at least one enriched or advanced level courses. AVID classes target students in the academic middle, who have the desire to go to college and the willingness to work hard.

Edina Rotary Global Scholars Pathway
The Rotary Global Scholar Program is a three-year program which students develop global competency skills thatenhance college, career, and civic readiness post-graduation. This program will encourage and inspire Edinastudents to prepare for global careers through the depth of study, community partnerships, mentoring, peercollaboration, cultural experience, and innovation. Thisprogram is intended to begin in sophomore year andcontinue through their senior year but can be completed in fewer years. Students in the program achieve fluency in a world language, complete relevant coursework, getinvolved in the Rotary Club, engage in a global experience and complete a Capstone Project. Peer Tutor

Sophomores, juniors and seniors who have performed well in specific courses are eligible to serve as EHS peer tutors. All peer tutors will receive training in tutoring policies and techniques prior to engaging in working with students.

Students will receive letter grades based on their participation and performance in planning events. Students will follow Robert's Rules protocol during weekly meetings and learn how to involve themselves in a formal council setting.

Students will learn the principles of ethical journalism and, with a hands on approach, explore the role of journalism in society. This is a very hands on process that requires critical thinking, communication, and teamwork, as well as having an understanding of the school’s key events each year for all members of the student body. This is a class and an extra-curricular activity, so outside of class time is also required. Positions on staff include writing, digital design, photography, and business promotions.
Zephyrus

This is a class and an extra-curricular activity, so outside of class time is also required. Positions on staff include writing, photography, illustrator, digital design, and multimedia creator.
