Internships
The educational experience at EDCO culminates in an internship for every student, tailored to student's individual interests. EDCO has three phases of real-world learning, and students demonstrate their commitment and readiness to advance through them by completing the steps in each.

PHASE I
PHASE I
In Phase I, students enter the program and spend time getting to know EDCO and themselves, through:
- Assessing interests and passions
- Identifying skills and challenges
- Learning our school culture
- Community building
- Exploring of careers
PHASE II
PHASE II
In Phase II, students continue to explore themselves and careers, while also engaging in service to our city, through:
- Projects
- Service learning
- Outreach to employers
- Interviewing professionals
- Job shadows
PHASE III
PHASE III
In Phase III, students build on their preparation and begin their individualized internships, with:
- Work-based mentor
- Real-world experience in a field of choice
- Connections to classroom material
- Experiencing different work settings
- Preparing an exhibition
Advisory
Advisory
Advisory is a core part of the real-world learning experience at EDCO. Students are paired with a group of peers and two EDCO staff members who meet on a daily basis together. Advisory is a required course which counts toward graduation and is a time to connect school-to-work and focus on skill-building, with themes that change based on the day of the week:
