REAL WORLD Learning

Internships

The educational experience at EDCO culminates in an internship for every student, tailored to student's individual interests. EDCO has three phases of real-world learning, and students demonstrate their commitment and readiness to advance through them by completing the steps in each.

  • Assessing interests and passions
  • Identifying skills and challenges
  • Learning our school culture
  • Community building
  • Exploring of careers

PHASE II

In Phase II, students continue to explore themselves and careers, while also engaging in service to our city, through:

  • Projects
  • Service learning
  • Outreach to employers
  • Interviewing professionals
  • Job shadows

PHASE III

In Phase III, students build on their preparation and begin their individualized internships, with:

  • Work-based mentor
  • Real-world experience in a field of choice
  • Connections to classroom material
  • Experiencing different work settings
  • Preparing an exhibition
