Innovation Pathway to Data Careers is a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded partnership between Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), Burlington, MA Public Schools, and the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Our goal is to design, develop, build educator capacity, and institutionalize an Innovation Pathway to Data Careers (IPDC) option for high school students in Massachusetts and other states with similar pathways, producing research findings to guide development of successful innovation pathways.
This site shares curricula and resources for teachers and administrators interested in providing students with critical 21st century data skills. Curricular integration of data skills is essential to ensure all students have access to the careers and world of today. The collection of course materials enable high schools to form the core of a pathway linking to local community college programs preparing middle skilled data practitioners and to university programs preparing data scientists. Designed for Massachusetts, the collection is also relevant to other states’ standards and career pathways.

Data is prevalent in every profession. It is critical for our students to understand how data is collected, modified, analyzed and presented; to experience the power of data in answering questions and highlighting solutions; and to know how to question data sources and visualizations. These resources create dynamic opportunities for cross-curricular integration of computational thinking skills for high school students.
