The Commencement Awards form is now open! All graduating grade 12 students should fill in a Commencement Awards form. Donors from many families and businesses, support our students every year as they pursue a variety of different pathways.
Eligibility Requirements
Have Completed high school by July 1, 2026
enrolled in a hands-on vocational, technical or trades program for fall 2026 at a public or not for profit school
Demonstrated critical financial need (household annual income of $80000 or less
Be under 35
Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

Lynn McDonald Commencement Award
This award is given to a student who shows leadership in classes or in extracurriculars and is going on to post secondary education. Preference will be given to students who have a financial need.
Students will complete an application in order to be eligible for the award. The decision of who will be the recipient of this award will be made by the Commencement Committee. The financial part of the award will be given to the recipient in June. The award will be awarded at Commencement. The recipient will receive half of the award in year 1 of post secondary and the other half in year 2.

For a student from Perth County who has been accepted by a recognized post-secondary educational institution to further their education in horticultural, agricultural or environmental studies. Students should submit a letter of application detailing their post secondary course of study, their volunteer work over the past 4 years and a character reference (usually a letter from someone in the school or community). These need to be submitted to marshashempel@hotmail.com by May 15, 2026
The Jack Ridell Scholarship for Agriculture is April 27. The criteria for the scholarship is:
● Must be a graduating Grade 12 student from a school in Huron or Perth County.
● The student must be pursuing a post-secondary education in the field of Agriculture at a
certified Canadian college or university.
● The student will have made a positive contribution to the school and/or community as a
frequent contributor and participant or as the organizer of a significant single event.
● The graduating student must provide evidence of enrolment in post-secondary studies,
which may include college or university programs in the field of agricultural.
● The graduating student must have a minimum average of 70%.
● Students can apply or be nominated for this scholarship.
Applications are available on the Class of 2026 Google Classroom or can be picked up in Student Services.
The Ray Walter Scholarship is a memorial scholarship program that awards annually up to $2,500 in scholarship(s) to a graduating student(s) of Listowel District Secondary School who are enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution in a business program (Accounting preferred).
Eligible candidates must have a minimum GPA of 75% in their graduating year of secondary school. In the spirit of the award, the selection committee will consider the following attributes of candidates applications:
- overall academic achievement in secondary school
- demonstration of significant community involvement
- track record of leadership and civic character in and out of the school environment
Any eligible student who wishes to be considered for the Ray Walter Memorial Scholarship must submit an official application form to Student Services, along with a transcript of marks from their final high school year. Application deadline – June 10, 2026

Alan A Simpson Award
The Alan A Simpson Award is valued at up to $1500 and is awarded to a student who is passionate about their area of study. An application package is required and is available in Student Services or on your Google Classroom. Applications are due by April 24, 2026. Please be sure to fill out the Commencement Awards form as part of your application.
For a student who is going on to a Canadian University or College and studying Science, Engineering, Nursing or the Fine Arts. The student must demonstrate financial need.

Contest details:
We are asking students to post photos and videos on Instagram illustrating their work to benefit a cause close to their heart through volunteering, organizing a rally, gathering donations, or the like. Document your journey from start to finish and take us along for the ride by using the #EdgeGrad26 hashtag.
Each month, we will choose a qualifier. In May, secondary school principals and vice principals across Canada will vote on which qualifier should be the grand prize winner.
Contest closes April 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm ET. Grand prize winner will be announced May 30, 2026.
Rules:
Must be a secondary school student graduating in 2026 from a secondary school using Edge Imaging graduation photography to qualify. Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent, or other objectionable or inappropriate content, as determined by Edge Imaging in its sole discretion, are ineligible for this contest. Note: Photos posted from a private Instagram account will not be displayed.
