The Mustang Messenger
On Wednesday, October 15, the 7/8 Boys and Girls Soccer Mustangs travelled to their tournaments to compete against other schools.
Our girls soccer team has had an incredible tournament racking up wins against Milverton, Howick, and Elma, and battling to a hard-fought tie against Westfield.
Their determination and teamwork earned them a spot in the finals .. a rematch against Westfield. They emerged victorious with a thrilling 3-2 win!
Shout out to our goal scorers: Claira, Jayse, Grace, Esther, and Sophia C. A huge congratulations to our MVP, Sophia Burkholder, who delivered a stellar performance in net and helped secure the championship!
Mrs. Sebastian is proud of everyone’s effort and contribution to the team this year. Way to keep the girls winning streak alive!
Even though they were a young team made up of mostly grade 7s and a few grade 8s, the boys showed courage, determination and not once did they back down - even when they were behind. After going undefeated with two wins and two ties, they found themselves up against a confident and talented Westfield in the Final. Quick goals by Canon Buermann and Mason Ortleib put the boys on top and the stellar defence played by Doug Campbell, Christiann Grundlingh and others, as well as near-flawless goaltending by Griffin Juup, made sure that the two goals were enough to win the Championship.
Each and every player should be proud of the contribution they each put forth. It was a team effort that brought home the win. If you see the boys in the hallway today, congratulate them on a job very well done!

FE Madill’s student council is proud to announce that the Fall Festival had a spectacular turnout this year. The event took place on October 23rd, and during the day, students were invited to participate in games and activities. The community was invited to join the fun from 4-7pm. At the Fall Festival people enjoyed inflatables, cotton candy, baked goods, carnival games, friendly competitions, and so much more.
The Fall Festival is one of Student Council’s favourite events to host, and we are so excited to have welcomed the community once again. This major event took months of planning from many dedicated students. These student leaders volunteered and spent their time to ensure that this event was fun and successful for school and greater community.
The Fall Festival has historically been a great fundraiser for FE Madill’s student council to raise money to give back to the school, and this year proved to be no different. After COVID the event has struggled to make a comeback, but with the hard work of Student Council it is hoped to become an annual tradition again.

Boys Volleyball is Dominating the Court
By Devyn Willie
The senior boys' volleyball team has had an amazing season so far. They are 7-1 in their regular season, where they are sitting in second place just behind SDSS. The boys have officially secured a place in the playoffs, where they will go head-to-head with some tough competition.
The team consists of 11 boys, led by team captains Hunter DeBoer and Caleb Koch. With the help of their amazing coaches, Mr. Cowan and Coach Ben, they have been able to play some incredible games with determination and consistency, improving game after game.
As the boys move through the playoffs, and hopefully further on, we will continue to cheer them on. Roll Stangs!
WOSAA Marks End Of Cross Country Season
By Alaina Scheurwater
The Madill cross country team had a great season, with seven secondary and ten elementary students competing. Six students from grades 9-12 qualified to compete at WOSSAA, while ten from grades 7 and 8 competed at districts.
The nine to twelve athletes ran at five meets this year. Each course was challenging in its own way, but everyone ran their best and achieved personal best times and paces. They endured 32-degree heat, running up and down Bolor Mountain, and running in rain and hail! Alaina Scheurwater, Avery Toll, Kane Dobben, Nathan Scheurwater, Victoria Newman, and Wesly Doyon all had top 20 finishes and moved on to WOSSAA. The elementary students ran at two meets this year: regionals and districts. At regionals, Christiaan Grundlingh, Isla Fischer, and Nolan Scott placed first in their events; Jacob Droppert and Canon Beuermann got second and third, and Noah Bartman, Nolan Garniss, Douglas Campbell, Landry McDonald and Madie Davenport also qualified for regionals.
At WOSSAA in Springbank Park, London, Kane, Nathan, and Wes all ran their best pace of the season despite the cold and wind, and the senior girls battled the elements as they raced through rain and hail. The team would like to thank Jennifer Shields for coaching this year, as well as their parents for supporting their participation in sports.
Now that cross-country season has ended, it is time for Nordic skiing to begin! Come talk to Mrs. Shields or any ski team member for more information; practices start next week.
Hands-On Learning
A huge thanks to Green’s Meats for donating cow hearts and lungs for students to examine in grade 10 science again this semester!
