Presentation: Humanistic Theory of Personality
Humanist Theories of Personality
We will finish the presentation from last lesson.
Activity: Write a Humanistic analysis of Richard's personality. You may want to do some additional research (i.e. read the wikipedia entry for the character).
Video: Carl Rogers and Gloria
As we watch the video, consider how Rogers tries to help the patient to change her personality (in ways that she wishes to change).
Self-Concept and Self-Image
Video: Self-Concept vs. Self-Esteem
Activity: Brainstorm with your table to define self-concept and self-esteem. Write down as many things as you can think of that help you explain it.
We will then discuss as a class.
Next, brainstorm with your table again the following:
How does self-esteem and self-concept develop, and who contributes to this development?
How do values and morals fit into self-esteem and self-concept?
Advantages of a good self-image.
We will then discuss again.
Finally, brainstorm your ideal self. You can do this on your own, and keep this private, there will be no requirement to share!
