Four Humours & Somatotypes
Activity: First take this Four Humours test.
Video: We will then watch this video as an example of analysis done on the Sanguine temperament.
Article: Finally, have a read of this article. Using this, and further research, write a paragraph on what you think about this approach to personality (i.e. do you have any criticisms of it?)
Discussion: Once done, discuss with your table.
Article: Next have a look at this article about Somatotypes. Again, write a paragraph on your thoughts on this theory and any criticisms, then discuss at your table.
Activity: After discussing with your table, answer the following questions:
How are these approaches to personality different to ones we've looked at in the past?
Do you think they are better/worse? Why/why not?
Do they remind you of anything else?
Discussion: Finally, we will discuss as a class what we learned about these two theories and what we think about them.
Dark Triad
Activity: Today we're going to have a look at the Dark Triad. Start off by taking this test.
Please keep in mind that everyone will score some amount on these categories and that is normal. This isn't supposed to be self-diagnosis, and even if your score is higher than you'd like, that doesn't mean you have a personality disorder or anything of the sort. The purpose of taking the test is to get a feel for how psychology measures these Dark Triad traits.
Article: Next have a read of this article.
Activity: Then write a definition for each of the Dark Triad traits (narcissism, machiavellianism, psychopathy).
Video: The Dark Triad Test Explained
Discussion: Once everyone is done, have a chat amongst your table about whether you think the Dark Triad is measuring something unique, or whether these traits are just a part of being human.
We will then discuss as a class what our definitions are.
Article: Finally, have a read of this article, then we will discuss how psychopathy develops.
