Experiment Analysis
Videos: We will watch some videos of famous psychology experiments.
As we're watching, write down the Independent Variable (IV), Dependent Variable (DV), and try to write a summary of the method and results.
Discussion: What do you think of Milgram's obedience experiment? Are there any potential ethical problems?
Discussion: Any thoughts on the other experiments? Were they well designed? Can you think of any problems in the method? How generalisable do you think the results are (i.e. do they apply to people in the real world, or just to people in the experiment)?
Experiment Analysis
Video: The Greater Good
Activity: Identify the IV(s) and DV(s) of this experiment.
Discussion: What do you think of this experiment? Do you have any criticisms, or do you think it was well done? What might it tell us about how people think and behave?
Historic Experiemnts
Activity: We will get into small groups of 3-4 people. Each group will prepare a presentation summarizing on a historic psychological experiment. The presentation should include:
Introduction to the experiment and its significance in the field of psychology.
Explanation of the independent and dependent variables.
Overview of the research method used.
Summary of the results and their implications.
Discussion of ethical considerations associated with the study.
Conclusion highlighting key takeaways and relevance to modern psychology.
You will have this lesson to prepare your presenations, then we will deliver them next week.
