By the end of this module, students will develop an understanding of the importance of:
What it means to be in The Right Place at The Right Time, Doing The Right Thing.
What to do when arriving and departing school.
How to be prepared to be a good learner during Transitions.
Students will:
Complete the required Quizzes and Case Studies.
Complete the final assessment and obtain their Certificate of Completion.
Students at Kingsford Smith School are expected to be in THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME, DOING THE RIGHT THING.
Listening and Following Instructions:
You are where you are supposed to be; you can listen to your teacher and follow their instructions.
Imagine if everyone wandered off during class — it would be chaos!
Safety and Organisation:
Schools have specific places for different activities: classrooms for learning, the library for reading, the playground for playtime, etc.
Being in the right place ensures safety. For example, it's not appropriate to play soccer in the middle of a busy hallway!
It also helps keep things organised. Teachers plan lessons based on where students should be, so being in the right spot helps everyone learn effectively.
Learning and Respect:
When you’re in the right place, you’re ready to learn. Your brain knows it’s time to focus!
Remember, being in the right place helps everyone have a smoother, more productive day at school!
Being in the right place at THE RIGHT TIME means:
Being in the classroom during class time.
It shows respect for your classmates and teachers. Imagine if someone interrupted your class by constantly coming in late — it’d be distracting, right?
For your safety, the School needs to know where you are at all times.
Staying out of Buildings during Break Time.
During Break times you are expected to be in the playground, the canteen or the Library. Classrooms, corridors and air locks are not appropriate places to hang out during breaks.
Safety and Order:
When students behave appropriately, it ensures a safe and organised classroom.
Imagine if everyone talked loudly during a test or ran around during a science experiment — it would be chaotic!
Appropriate behaviour helps maintain order, making it easier for everyone to focus on learning.
2. Respect and Cooperation:
Appropriate behaviour shows respect for teachers, classmates, and the learning process.
When students follow rules and guidelines, they contribute to a respectful and cooperative atmosphere.
Cooperation allows lessons to flow smoothly, benefiting everyone in the class.
3. Maximising Learning Time:
When students are engaged and well-behaved, teachers can spend more time teaching.
Disruptions or inappropriate behaviour take away valuable learning time.
Being in the right place and following expectations ensures that everyone gets the most out of each lesson.
4. Positive Teacher-Student Relationships:
When students behave appropriately, it strengthens their relationship with teachers.
Teachers appreciate respectful behaviour, and students feel supported and understood.
These positive connections enhance the overall classroom experience.
Remember, appropriate behaviour isn’t just about rules— it’s about creating an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and succeed!
Arriving and departing school are possibly the most important TRANSITIONS that you will undergo each day when you attend Kingsford Smith School. In the morning, you are expected to arrive at school on time with all of your equipment ready to learn. Your daily equipment should include:
A fully charged chromebook.
A chromebook charger in-case your battery goes flat.
Your subject work books.
A pencil case with pencils, pens, sharpener, ruler and eraser.
Any subject specific equipment (such as PE uniform, calculator, etc)
Food for the day and a water bottle (to be filled during breaks not during class.)
At Kingsford Smith School teachers are on Duty from 8:30am to provide a safe environment for you. Once you enter the school, the PBL-All Areas expectation apply.
The appropriate time to leave school is after the 3pm bell. It is not appropriate to leave the school during break time or any other time between 9am and 3pm unless you are signed out by a parent or guardian.
If you arrive late to school you MUST sign in at the Hub and promptly head to your timetabled class.
All late arrivals, truants or unexplained absences are texted to your parents at 10:30am and 3:30pm every school day.
