What do we mean by the Library Space?
What do we mean by the Library Space?
The Library space refers to the building which is called the Library. It is found beside the canteen. Once you walk through the front doors it is a large open room which is divided into sections.
The sections are:
The Circulation Desk. This is where you can speak with the Teacher Librarian about help with research for your assignments, or advice on what you might like to read next. It is also where the Teacher Librarian and the Library Assistant process book loans and returns.
The Fiction Section. This is the shelving that holds the fiction book collection.
The Non-fiction Section. This is the shelving that holds the non-fiction book collection.
Learning Space. This is where teachers bring their classes for lessons in the library. It is where the tables and chairs are. Students also use this section during break times.
The Junior Library. This room holds the picture book collection and is where the primary school students have their Library lessons.
The Breakout Space. This is a small space for quiet study, quiet reading, mindful colouring activities and board games including the large chess set.
What Do We Mean When We Say Use The Library Space Safely?

The library is open from
8.30 am- 8.55am before school starts for students to use.
During Break Time...
During Break Time...
It is a place you can:
sit quietly reading a book
sit quietly working on your laptop
social time by playing board games, card games and puzzles
Access a Teacher Librarian who can assist with assignment research or recommend a book to read.
During Class time...
During Class time...
You can visit the Library with a note from your teacher to choose a book to support your assignment work, a book to read for pleasure, or a text book for class study.
Your teacher may also book the class in to the Library to work on assignments with support from the teacher Librarian and ues the library resources.
After School...
After School...
The Library is NOT open after school for student use as it is used as a meeting place for various staff meetings.
How to use the Library Safely

During class time:
When your class is coming to the Library, you should line up outside the Library and wait until the teacher is ready to let you in and explains where you will be sitting.
Break times:
At the start of each break the Library doors will be locked for the the first 10 minutes of the break giving you time to eat your food before entering. The duty teacher will then unlock the Library doors for you to enter,

To Enter safely you should line up quietly and WALK into the Library without pushing and shoving.
When you arrive in the Library find a seat where you would like to sit and place your bag beside the chair.
Students are safe when sitting in designated seating areas.
