By the end of this module, students will have an understanding of:
the importance of respect in a shared school environment.
ways to demonstrate respect towards peers, staff, and school property.
the impact of respectful behavior on creating a positive playground experience.
I can explain why respect is essential on the school playground.
I can demonstrate respectful behavior towards others and school property.
I can identify and respond appropriately to disrespectful behavior.
I can contribute to a positive and inclusive playground environment.
Respecting others means treating everyone with kindness and consideration. This includes:
using polite language
taking turns
being inclusive in games and activities.
Everyone has a right to enjoy the playground. If someone is being disrespectful, please inform the teacher on duty.
Taking care of playground equipment ensures that it remains safe and functional for everyone. Use nets, rings/goals, and sports gear properly, and report any damaged equipment instead of misusing it.
Littering or vandalizing school property disrespects the space shared by all students—always clean up after yourself and encourage others to do the same.
A respectful playground is an inclusive one. Make an effort to include classmates who may feel left out and be welcoming to new students. Being supportive also means encouraging fair play and helping others if they are struggling or feeling upset.
Equipment can be borrowed from the PE Staff at Second break from the senior gym. The steps below will show you how to borrow the equipment:
Go to the gym in the first 10 minutes of break 2.
Ask a PE Staff member using manners such as please and thank you.
Swap your bag for the requested sporting equipment - Your bag will be locked up safe and sound.
Return the equipment before the end of the break and trade it back for the school bag.
