By the end of this module, students will have an understanding of:
Understand the importance of respect and its role in preventing bullying.
Learn how to show empathy and kindness in everyday interactions
Develop strategies for being an upstander and standing up against bullying.
I can explain what it means to be an upstander and how it helps stop bullying.
I can demonstrate how to support victims of bullying through empathy and action.
I can contribute to creating a school culture that values kindness, respect, and support.
Respect means treating others with kindness, fairness, and understanding. It involves listening to others, valuing their opinions, and acknowledging their differences. A respectful school culture helps prevent bullying by fostering positive relationships and reducing misunderstandings.
Respect means treating others the way you want to be treated. It helps create a school where everyone feels comfortable and valued. Respect looks like:
Listening when others are speaking.
Accepting differences and being kind.
Using words to encourage, not tear others down.
Helping others feel included and supported.
Speak Up – If you see something tell a trusted adult or teacher, you don't need to step into a tricky situation.
Support Each Other: Offer your friend or peer support, whether it’s through kind words or helping them find a safe adult to talk to.
Be Inclusive – Invite classmates to join in activities so no one feels left out.
Think Before You Post – What you say online can affect someone deeply. Be positive and respectful on social media.
Be Kind: Small gestures, like smiling, helping someone in need, or offering a compliment, can make a big difference.
Listen Actively: Pay attention to what others are saying and show you value their opinions.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings, thoughts, or experiences of another person. It involves putting yourself in someone else’s shoes emotionally and intellectually.
There are three main types of empathy:
Cognitive Empathy – Understanding someone’s perspective or thoughts.
Emotional Empathy – Feeling what another person feels.
Compassionate Empathy – Not just understanding and feeling, but also taking action to help.
Empathy is key in relationships, communication, and emotional intelligence. It helps build connections, resolve conflicts, and create supportive environments.
Everyone plays a part in making school a better place. By choosing kindness and respect, we can stop bullying and make sure everyone feels welcome. If you or someone you know is being bullied, don’t stay silent—reach out for help.
Together, we can make our school a place where respect rules and bullying has no place!
