By the end of this module, students will have an understanding of:
What is RESPECTUL behaviour at assembly looks and sounds like?
I know what RESPECTUL behaviour at assembly looks and sounds like.
I know how to be respectful to the gym environment
When watching performances at the assembly, it's important to listen attentively and show respect to those on stage. Stay quiet, keep your focus on the performers, and avoid any side conversations or distractions. Applaud appropriately when it's time, but remember that silence during the performance shows your support and appreciation. Being a good audience member helps create a positive experience for everyone involved.
When receiving an award, approach the stage with confidence and respect. Walk calmly, smile, and make eye contact with the presenter. Once you receive the award, thank the person who gave it to you with a handshake or a polite "thank you." Pause briefly to allow for any photos, then return to your seat quietly and with dignity. Remember to stay composed and be mindful of those around you as the assembly continues.
During the assembly, clapping is a great way to show appreciation and support for the performers or speakers. Clap politely and at the appropriate times, such as after a performance, speech, or when someone receives an award. Avoid clapping too loudly or for too long, and be mindful of cues from your teachers or the speaker to know when it's time to stop. Respectful clapping helps create a positive and encouraging atmosphere for everyone in the assembly.
Cheering in assembly can be a fun way to show enthusiasm and support, but it should be done respectfully and at appropriate times. Save cheering for moments when it's encouraged by the teacher, like celebrating a big achievement or during a special presentation. Keep it positive, brief, and considerate of others around you. Remember, the goal is to uplift and encourage without disrupting the event. Balancing enthusiasm with respect ensures everyone can enjoy the assembly.
During assemblies, it's important to refrain from whistling or yelling out. These behaviors can be disruptive and distracting for both the audience and the people on stage. Whistling or shouting may make it difficult for others to hear and enjoy the event, and it can take away from the respectful atmosphere that assemblies are meant to foster. By keeping the noise level appropriate, everyone can focus, listen, and participate fully in the assembly.
Being respectful to the school gym environment is essential to keeping it a safe and enjoyable space for everyone. This means treating the equipment with care, following the rules, and cleaning up after yourself. Avoid damaging or misusing gym gear, and make sure to return everything to its proper place when you're finished. Respect the space by keeping noise levels down and being considerate of others using the gym. Taking pride in the gym environment helps maintain it for everyone to use and enjoy.
At the end of assembly a year group is responsible for stacking of the chairs, remember the chairs are to be stacked 8 high and should be placed carefully to avoid any breaking or collapsing. This ensures our gym is ready for the next class.
