Semester 2: Elective Subject Preference Selections Information.

Terms 3 & 4: Subject Preference Selections Online (SSO) Timelines.

Students in years 7-9 are about to complete their preferred choice of courses to study in 2024. Students must ensure they read the Elective Handbook and talk to Faculty areas to understand the courses they are selecting. Each student will put forward their preferred and reserve elective choices on Subject Selections Online (SSO).

Term 3

Week 7: Elective Handbooks, timelines and information released to students and families via Year group Google Classrooms, parent and student email
Week 8: Information sessions for year 7 students
Week 9: Student and family email sent with set up instructions & user guide for Subject Selection Online (SSO)
Week 10: Recess & lunch SSO account setup support - Technology Staffroom

Term 4

Week 11: Student preference data used to build timetables for 2024

Week 17: Students receive 2024 electives confirmation

How our Timetable works:

Each Semester has three elective classes to be selected, one for each 'line' of the elective timetable. The other lines will be populated with compulsory core classes (English, Maths, Science and HaSS). Health & PE is a compulsory core subject, however, HPE supports elective classes by being available on all lines, thus allowing further flexibility and variety of choices for students.
For example, during the Subject Preference Selections process, Yr 7 students will make the following selections for their year 8 Timetable;

Language selection - this must be the same Language that is being studied in Yr 7
Elective selection
HPE selection

During the Subject Preference Selections process, Yr 8 & 9 students will make the following selections for their year 9 &10 Timetable;

Students in year 7 rotate through a range of Electives so they have diverse experiences. Towards the end of Year 7, students will be able to make more personalised subject selections for their Year 8 timetables.
