Careers and Transitions

To support your young person's transition to career planning:

  • create opportunities to discuss student aspirations beyond school

  • use the resources provided on this page to start or continue exploring pathways options

  • encourage students to investigate a range of opportunities including further education and training, apprenticeships, traineeships and work options

  • use the resources listed to create resumes, covering letters and careers plans

  • support students interested in transitioning to work to apply broadly for job opportunities

  • reach out to family and friends to ask questions about career and job opportunities or to find out more about the expectations of the world of work.

These are uncertain times for young people moving from school to the world of work and further education and training. Planning for this transition has been difficult as students learn remotely. The Education Directorate has collated information to help students and their support networks to access resources targeted at planning for life after school.
