SENIOR CHECKLIST
Fall:
Make sure your classes and grades will meet college/post-secondary requirements.
Monitor your progress toward earning the Millennium Scholarship www.nevadatreasurer.gov/GGMS/GGMS_Home/ .
Register for the ACT/SAT if you are not satisfied with your scores.
Ask for letters of recommendation early before scholarship and application deadlines near.
Begin college applications and research scholarships. Organize files, copy applications and essays. Many competitive colleges have an early admissions process and strict deadlines. Do the research.
College athletes musts be cleared to play sports at Division I and Division II colleges. Register online for the NCAA Clearinghouse web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/ .
Initiate contact with coaches regarding athletic scholarships. Create a player-profile on Next College Student Athlete www.ncsasports.org/ OR similar service. Do your research as many of these services are not free.
Attend college visitations on campus.
Consider sending in "early decision" and "early action" applications. Do your research and make sure you and your parents fully understand the meaning and terms of this process.
Research scholarships and financial aid at the colleges. Apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship by October 31.

Talk to your parents to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Begin the FAFSA process. studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
The November ACT/SAT is the last chance to improve your score to be considered for most college-funded scholarships.
Keep working on your grades- GRADES MATTER.
Attend the SCHS Financial Aid Night -typically scheduled in October/early November.
Winter:
Watch for scholarships to be posted on the SCHS Scholarship Calendar and be diligent about due dates.
Continue to research apprenticeships and technical/trade school.
Finalize your college choice and make sure your application has been submitted and received. Check your application status.
Finalize your FAFSA.
Study for your finals.
review your 7th semester grades and make sure you are on schedule to graduate.
Check that the college has received all required application and financial aid information. Apply for student housing and meal plans if necessary.
Spring:
Continue to apply for scholarships.
Watch for the Student Aid Report (SAR) to be posted. This will provide the amount of aid for which you are eligible. This report is generated by FAFSA.
Schedule an official on-campus visit.
Finalize your college choice by submitting tuition deposit.
Find out when payments for tuition, parking, dorms, and meals due to avoid late fees.
Enjoy the last months of Spring Creek High School! Go Spartans!
Take Advanced Placement (AP) exams.
Attend all advising days, open houses, orientation programs, and registration services offered by the college.
Read information on how to be successful at college.
Enroll in summer Freshman Orientation Session or Freshman Experience at the college.
Request a final transcript be sent from the SCHS Registrar.
Inquire about placement exams for math, English at the college, if necessary.
Graduate!!!
Complete the Millennium Scholarship Award packet (even if you are not planning to attend college in Nevada). It will be mailed to you in the summer.
