Sophomore To Do List:
All Sophomore students will have the opportunity to take the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) in the Fall. Testing fees are typically $15 and due to the Counseling Office in September. Free PSAT prep is available at www.collegeboard.org.
Talk to you counselor about applying for the Hugh O'Brien Summer Leadership Program.
Monitor your progress toward earning the Millennium Scholarship @ www.nevadatreasurer.gov/GGMS/GGMS_Home/ and www.nevadatreasurer.gov/uploadedFiles/nevadatreasurergov/content/GGMS/Forms/Doc-FactSheet.pdf . Student need a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or ACT of 21 and four years of math including Algebra II.
Prepare for mat and English End of Course Exams (EOC's) in the Spring.
Begin researching colleges and/or trade schools @ collegescorecard.ed.gov/ .
Talk with your parents, teachers, and counselors about career options and/or interests.
Review PSAT results to determine areas of strength.
Meet with your counselor in the Spring to review your Four Year Plan, plan for courses and complete the registration process.
Discuss course options with your parents and how they are related to your post-secondary options.
Consider taking Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Check your credits - you should have between 12 and 14 credits at the end of your sophomore year.
Visit regional college campuses with your parents.

Make sure your student attends school regularly and on time.
Explore career options with your student.
