Your mentor teachers are expected to monitor your SA progress. S/he is responsible for approving any new activities, and will regularly read and provide appropriate feedback on your SA entries on ManageBac.
Your teacher will also write comments about your progress on the report cards.
If you are falling behind expectations, the Service as Action Coordinator will be informed.
You must nominate a supervisor who is responsible to verify/check your service activity. It is your responsibility to first ask if a teacher/school employee/external community member can be the supervisor. They have to sign and date the agreement form that will be then uploaded onto your MB portfolio.
Once the project is finished, and you have completed all your reflections, and then press the request supervisor review button in Managebac. This will send the supervisor an email. The supervisor will then comment on your progress and achievement.
It is very important that you have all the reflections finished and the correct email address entered into Managebac for your supervisor. If your supervisor has not responded after one week, contact them directly.
A supervisor may consider your project unsatisfactorily completed if:
• The supervisor has no record of you participating in the activity, or
• The supervisor cannot see a connection between your project and your chosen learning outcomes.
Your parents may only act as your supervisor if they are acting in a role other than your parent. For example, if your parent is a teacher at Nations , then s/he may act as your supervisor if they also run an ECA or club. Another example is if your parent is involved in charity projects and will act as your supervisor. If you are not able to find a suitable supervisor, contact your homeroom teacher or the SA Coordinator.
