The Office of Student Affairs reserves the right to decline residency based on relevant conduct record(s) or room or dorm damage history before and after Room Draw.
You must have a planned roommate for all Room Draw applications except single room selection.
Only current Sophomores, Juniors, and continuing Seniors are eligible for Omega and Nu.
Nu & Omega suites will remain Large-Animal Friendly for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Only TWO large animals will be permitted per suite. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Both Sigma and West Lodge complexes will be Large-Animal Friendly.
Incoming new first year and new transfer students (joining campus for the first time Fall 2026) cannot participate in Room Draw. This is only for currently enrolled students.
Applications
Applications for each draw will be available online through the StarRez Portal on the dates listed on the Room Draw Calendar (StarRez Process Page). Every student must login to complete their profile and accept their roommate(s) in a group. There should only be one student per group sending out roommate requests, then each student will accept. Once accepted, only one student per pair/group of students needs to choose their housing during their designated time slot. Late applications will not be accepted.
Every single student must complete an application because this is where you will choose your meal plan and sign your housing agreement. This includes RA's and students living with RA's. You will not see any selection pages, rather each person will update their personal details, answer a roommate questionnaire, and a preferences page. After your group has selected, you must go back into your application to select a meal plan, provide proof of insurance, and sign the housing agreement.
If you know you do not have enough people to fill your room (only have two people for a triple) and cannot go through Room Draw, please email housing@eckerd.edu to be put on a waitlist to be placed after Room Draw is complete. Housing is not guaranteed after Room Draw.
Eligibility
Students are eligible to participate in Room Draw if they are currently enrolled as an Eckerd College student and will be full-time during the Fall academic term. A student with a graduation date prior to December 2026 is ineligible to participate in Room Draw. An incoming new student or transfer student cannot participate in Room Draw.
*Students Going Abroad*
Students who will be abroad for the Fall 2026 semester cannot participate in Room Draw.
Students who will be abroad during Room Draw only need one roommate to select for their group or notify the Housing Office to accept the roommate request in their application. If the Housing Office is making the selection (all roommates are unavailable), you need to include preferences and add any specific comments in the 'About Me' portion of your application. Even if all preferences are taken, the Housing Office will make a selection in your groups absence.
Financial Clearance by Student Accounts
To participate in the Room Draw process, a student must be financially cleared by the Business Office. A delinquent balance will prohibit your participation in Room Draw. Students with a delinquent balance will receive written notification prior to Room Draw procedures to provide them with an opportunity to reconcile their account.
Housing Accommodations
Any student with a medically-related need that may affect their room assignment must contact the Office of Accessibility. For more information please visit the Office of Accessibility website. Accommodations must be handled before Room Draw starts as the request and renewal of housing accommodations will close before Room Draw begins. The Housing Office does not review or approve accommodations.
Room Draw Priority System
Room Draw Priority is given to students based on a seniority system, meaning their current class standing, which is used to create an organized order for students to select rooms. The Registrar's Office verifies all class standing and provides a list to Housing. CPS credits do not count toward your class standing.
Point System for Suites
The following point system is used to determine precedence for applicant groups in Omega, Nu, and Oberg Suites. After assigning each applicant points, the sum will be computed for an entire application.
Current Class Standing Points
Seniors 10 Juniors 7
Sophomores 5 First Years 1
Example: A group of two seniors, four juniors, and three sophomores would have a value of 63 points for Nu room draw.
The group with the most points will choose first during the appropriate selection time. In case of a tie, all groups affected will be given a randomly selected time.
Forfeiture of Rooms/Spaces
After Omega, Nu, and Oberg Suites selection, if one member withdraws from the unit, the remaining members will have a chance to fill the space with another person of equal or greater point value within three business days. If the vacant space has not been filled after three business days, the remaining students will lose the right to occupy the unit. When two or more persons withdraw from the unit (at once or on two separate occasions) the remaining members will lose the right to occupy the unit immediately.
Please remember that if you cancel your room after July 1st, 2026, a $500 cancellation fee will be assessed to your student account.
What if you miss Room Draw?
It will be assumed that if you do not contact the Housing Office after missing Room Draw, you will not be living on campus during the 2026-2027 academic year. If you wish to live on-campus and miss Room Draw please email housing@eckerd.edu.
Changes after Room Draw
Once names have been entered on housing rosters, no changes will be made until the entire Room Draw process is finished. If you would like to switch after Room Draw, please email housing@eckerd.edu. At this point, no priority will be granted.
Day Student Status
Students who participate in Room Draw and then wish to change to part-time status must notify the Housing Office in writing by July 1st, 2026 to avoid additional charges. Students must submit a request to stay on campus as a part-time student for review by the Housing Committee.
Cancellation
Notifying the Housing Office of cancellation after July 1st, 2026 will result in a $500 cancellation fee for all housing types. Students are responsible for canceling their individual housing assignment in writing by emailing housing@eckerd.edu from their Eckerd Email Address.
