CollegeBoard
CollegeBoard & BigFuture Resources
CollegeBoard has many useful scholarship, career, and college search engines. Some of these activities may even earn you a scholarship! In addition, your student may also complete SAT/PSAT practice tests through Khan Academy for FREE!
PSAT 10 & PSAT/NMSQT
PSAT 10 is given to all PHS sophomores for an opportunity to gain experience with the testing platform, questions, and content. The PSAT 10 is given to students in preparation for the PSAT/NMSQT that is offered during junior year.
PSAT/NMSQT is offered to a select group of PHS juniors depending on their scores from sophomore year. The PSAT/NMSQT is an opportunity for students to obtain National Merit Scholar Recognitions and Scholarship Awards.
SAT
We offer the SAT on a school day twice a year. ALL PHS Juniors are given the opportunity to test in March. In the fall, PHS Seniors have one more opportunity to take the exam for free at school, HOWEVER, they MUST register in time.
If you miss these two opportunities to take the exam for free, you can register to test on CollegeBoard.org

ACT
PHS is a national ACT testing site, if your student is interested in taking the ACT, they may choose the February 10, 2024 date and PHS will be a testing location option.
TSIA2
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas. The tests help Texas schools determine whether you’re ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing, and math.
Not all Texas college students have to take the TSIA. If you’ve met college readiness standards on a standardized test like the SAT, have already successfully completed college courses, or are in the military, you may be exempt. Contact the college you’ll be attending to see if you need to take the TSIA.
