Independent work time
Students will remain silent as independent work is just that: by themselves.
If a student has a question, they are to raise their hand and await acknowledgement from the teacher, not ask their classmates.
Students will remain busy working on their assignment until the assignment is complete or the class moves on to the next activity.
Student errors and class responses
When another student makes an error, it is not acceptable to belittle them in any way.
Student responses can include: helping their classmate find the solution, answering the question correctly in a way that is not disrespectful, or waiting quietly for the teacher to guide the correction.
Getting the teacher’s attention
Students must stay seated and raise their hand.
Students will wait patiently to be recognized.
Any attempts that do not follow the guidelines will cause a delay on being recognized, barring a true emergency.
Moving about the room
Students may move about the room without permission as long as it does not disturb the lecture and they have a good reason.
Proper reasons include: Sharpening a pencil, getting a tissue, or getting supplies.
Students must be mindful of their classmates’ personal space and belongings.
Students must reach their destination and return to their seat quickly and efficiently.

If my door is open, students will enter the classroom quietly before the bell rings.
Students will put their belongings under their desk and out of the aisle.

Leaving the room
Students are not allowed to leave the room during class unless called by the office or another teacher via a note from that teacher.
