Rules & Expectations

Virtual Expectations

  • Until we are permitted otherwise, our learning environment will be 100% digital.

  • We will use Google Meet to hold virtual lectures each day.

  • In addition to the virtual meeting, students will have their Eureka workbooks and pencils prepared to work as we go through the lesson.

  • Students will be held accountable for their actions in the virtual session just as they would in a physical classroom environment.

  • Students are expected to be on time to the virtual meeting with their cameras on and microphones muted.

  • Students will engage with the material, be called upon and answer questions, and be assigned classwork, homework, and exams.

  • Students will remain on screen in front of their computer for the duration of the class.

  • When students wish to speak they will ask their question in the text chat and wait to be called on.

  • When called upon students will come off of mute to speak.

  • Google Classrooms will be your source hub for completing and turning in assignments, announcements, due dates, and receiving feedback.

General Class Procedures and Information

Grades

The majority of the total points will be from homework, quizzes, and tests. Grades will be available as soon as possible on Student Progress Center. Assignments turned in late will have points deducted or not accepted at all.

In the gradebook, you may see something other than a numerical grade for a specific entry:

  • “X” is entered if a student is absent or did not turn something in when it was due. This is calculated as a zero. When the student returns and shows me that missing work, or turns in the work that is missing, an actual grade will be entered.

  • “E” in the gradebook, then that assignment is excused and does not need to be made up. It is not calculated as a zero.

Supplies

  • 1 spiral notebook or equivalent in loose leaf paper

  • Pencils

  • School Issued Chromebook

  • Eureka Workbook

Homework

  • Homework will be assigned each class period and will be posted in Google Classroom.

  • Homework is to be completed and turned in by the start of the next class period.

  • Late work may be accepted for partial credit at my discrepancy depending on how late it is.

Making up classwork

  • Students must find their own missed classwork posted on Google Classroom.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and complete the work.

  • Students have the amount of days they were absent to turn in missed assignments.

SMAMS Discipline Policy

Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. The school wide steps will be taken if a class disruption occurs:

  1. Warning/Teacher-Student Conference

  2. Student will sign discipline form

  3. Parent contact

  4. Office referral – after school clinic

If you find it difficult to focus in class which may contribute to disturbances, please let me know so I can be proactive with a solution.
