Dear Families,
You may have seen that we have had support from persimmon to clear the overgrown area near to the playground that we are hoping to turn into a sensory garden. We need to add a weed blocking membrane down as quickly as possible to prevent new growth having to be cleared again. If any of our school community has access to any such materials they can donate we would be very grateful!
I would like to welcome Miss Ward and Miss McIntee to our school team, they both support children at lunchtime as Midday Supervisors. I would also like to take to opportunity to say goodbye to Mrs Silburn from our admin team, Mrs Silburn is leaving us and will be working at another school. We thank her for all of her support whilst she has been here.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
With very best wishes
Mrs Winter
What's Cooking?
Team Calder have attended Cook School this week and have enjoyed making a Greek Salad. They have had the opportunity to use their cutting/chopping and measuring skills and have experimented with lots of different flavours.
They have been learning lots of culinary facts about Greece and have demonstrated that visiting Cook School isn't just about cooking, it is also about tidying up! Well done to all the children who have attended Cook School this week, you have made some very tasty Greek Salads!
Next week, I will start to work with Team Aire and we will be travelling back to Victorian times!

North Yorkshire’s education, health and social care services are being jointly inspected by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to see how well they meet their responsibilities towards children and young people with SEN and disabilities (SEND).
They would like to hear your views about the support that your child/young person receives and how it has helped your child.
You can provide your views by completing an online survey. What you share will be treated in confidence:

The survey links and guidance can also be on the SEND Local Offer | North Yorkshire Council website.
The surveys will close at 9am on 23rd April 2024.
A paper/word copy of the survey is available – please see attached.

We have been asked by North Yorkshire to share the below survey link, which is requesting feedback from young people in the Selby area.
This is in relation to the ongoing work around local youth activities.
On Friday 26th April we are asking everyone to come to school wearing blue clothes, accessories etc.
Blue is the colour of autism awareness and as the main day to celebrate was in the school holidays, we have picked Friday 26th instead.
Lets all come together and raise awareness.
York RLFC are delighted to bring back our popular design a training top competition for 2024.
Following the success of the last couple of years, we are once again giving local school children to opportunity to design a training top for a Knights game.
This year, the winning design will be produced by Oxen and worn by the team in the warm-up at their Betfred Championship League game against Sheffield Eagles on 30th June. This game will be played at the LNER Community Stadium and themed as the York RLFC Education Day, a tribute and thank you to all our partners.
We are asking for your help to encourage your children to get creative and have your school represented in our competition. Last year we had over 300 entries received in the competition.
From colour scheme to design elements - the more creative the better!
The winning design will...
Be put produced and worn by the York RLFC Knights players whilst warming up for the game.
The winner will receive a free warm-up shirt of their design
Receive a complimentary family ticket to the game.
The opportunity to walk out with the players at the game as a player mascot.
The design will be available to purchase via our website for the general public.
