Dear Families,
The children absolutely loved being in school on Monday celebrating the football, especially England's win! The excitement and enthusiasm were wonderful to see, and it certainly made for a memorable start to the week. Here's hoping we will all have another reason to celebrate at the weekend!
This week also marks a huge milestone in our learning. We have officially completed our Phase 4 phonics learning, and we couldn't be prouder of the progress the children have made. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the year and have developed into a wonderful team of confident, enthusiastic readers. They are now ready to begin Phase 5 phonics when they move into Year 1, which is a fantastic achievement.
At the beginning of Year 1, the children will spend some time revisiting Phases 3 and 4 of the phonics programme. This recap is built into our phonics scheme to help consolidate their learning after the long summer break before they move on to Phase 5.
In place of reading books this week, we have uploaded the Phase 4 sentence cards that the children have been reading in class onto Tapestry. Over the summer holidays, we recommend revisiting these sentence cards little and often to help keep phonics fresh in your child's mind. Spending just a few minutes reading them together will help maintain their confidence and ensure they are ready to continue their phonics journey in Year 1.
This week on Tapestry, we will be sharing information about the Early Learning Goals. This will help you better understand your child's school report and what it means if they are assessed as Emerging or Expected in each area of learning.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support with reading at home. It has made such a positive difference to the children's confidence and success.
Have a lovely weekend
