Good afternoon,
The children have had a fantastic week and have thoroughly enjoyed practising our superhero story with actions. They have shown great enthusiasm and confidence while retelling the story, and it has been wonderful to see their creativity shine through. In maths, the children have worked incredibly hard and have been using their resources independently to support their learning and problem-solving skills. We are also very proud of the effort they put into creating their posters about Queen Victoria, which they completed with great care and interest. Well done to everyone for their hard work and positive attitude!
Following our conversations with the children last half term, we want to give them the opportunity to choose the texts they enjoy reading most. Therefore, they will not be bringing a school book home on Thursday. Instead, they will bring our class story map home to practise the story and its actions.

Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
This half term, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Every Friday, Year 1 will now be bringing home a phonics home learning sheet looking at sounds that we have covered throughout the week. Any extra practise would really support your children's reading journey.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you for your continued support,
Team KS1
