Good afternoon,
We’ve had a fantastic week in Reception and we are so proud of our amazing Teams!
In phonics this week the children continue to work hard with their Phase 4 learning. It's amazing to see them apply their skills when reading their new books. As always, thank you for your continued support with reading at home—it really makes a difference!
This week we have been learning about plants. The children enjoyed learning all about what plants need to grow and exploring and labelling the different parts of a plant. Next week, we are looking forward to reading, ordering and following instructions to plant our very own sunflowers!
In Maths, we have been focusing on number bonds to 10. The children have been using a range of practical resources, including part-part-whole models, ten frames, and rekenreks, as well as creating their own representations. It’s been lovely to see them developing a deeper understanding of how numbers work.
Exciting news! 🐛🕷️🪲🐍
We are hoping to arrange a visit from ZooLab, after May half term for all Reception children. ZooLab are a company who provide interactive animal/ minibeast workshops for children. This will be linked to our topic next half term and will be a fantastic opportunity to enhance the children’s learning with a real-life experience. We are very grateful to FOSHA for donating half the cost to fund our visit and as a school we have also contributed to reduce the cost of the visit. We kindly ask for a contribution of £2.50 per child to allow the children to have this experience- this can be paid through Arbor. Please do speak to a member of the Team if you have any questions.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support with reading and completing home learning. We truly appreciate your involvement in your child’s learning journey.
Have a lovely weekend!
The Reception Team
