Good afternoon,
WOW- what an amazing week we have had in KS1 writing and publishing our own adapted version of 'Farmer Duck.' The children have loved creating their own stories. We have also finished our topic of 'Where does our food come from?' and moving onto 'What was life like when Queen Victoria Ruled?' In Science we have finished our topic of 'plants' and the children showed everything they have learnt by creating some brilliant posters!
Reminders next week -
Monday - bank holiday
In Maths, Year 1 are beginning looking at coins beginning with 1p coins.
In Year 2 we will continuing to explore division and multiplication and how we can use one to help the other.
In Writing, we are going to be writing a recount of our school trip to Boston Park Farm.
In science we will be beginning a new topic of animals and their habitats focusing on living and non-living things.
In PSHE we will be sharing who can help us in our school communities and what that help can look like.
Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
This half term, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Every Friday, Year 1 will now be bringing home a phonics home learning sheet looking at sounds that we have covered throughout the week. Any extra practise would really support your children's reading journey.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you for your continued support,
Team KS1
