Good afternoon,
This week, we started a new genre of writing in English - diaries! We started the week exploring this genre by using freeze frames to show what was happening in a diary extract. We really enjoyed this active style of learning! We then practiced first person and informal language to help us be successful at this genre. In Maths, we practiced finding fractions of amounts, such as ¼ of 16 = 4. This will be a great skill to help us in our reasoning paper and to problem solve in life. In Science, we completed our Forces unit by completing a challenge task to show off our knowledge. In History, we looked at how the Romans left Britain and what happened after they had gone.
Coming up next week:
Due to the Bank Holiday altering our timetable a little, please can children come in PE kits on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
English: We will continue with our diary genre and will practice our own entry.
Maths: We will continue our non unit fraction learning by identifying non unit fractions and using our knowledge of non unit fractions to solve problems.
PE Year 3 & 4: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
PSHE Year 3: We will be looking at knowing that some words are used in hurtful ways.
PSHE Year 4: We will be looking at how sometimes bullying is hard to spot and knowing what to do if we think it is going on, as well as knowing our shared definition of bullying is.
Homework:
Homework will be set on a Friday and is due the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. Please record this in their reading records and bring these into school.
