STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 11th July 2025
Dear Families
We have had another lovely week in school and we have ended the week with the most wonderful music performance from our Lower Key Two children and our choir. It was magical to see them perform, with their recorders and sing everything they have been learning this term. We thank Mrs Marshall for all of her hard work, which has gone into supporting the children to be so successful in learning music throughout the year.
Staffing Updates
From September Ms. Steunou will take up a teaching post in school, Ms. will be teaching in Team Wharfe on a Monday and Tuesday alongside Mrs Cowling who will be teaching the class team on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Miss Austwick, who will be teaching in Year 5 has a number of years teaching experience and Mr Myers who also has experience of teaching in Lower Key Stage two have spent time with u in school and they are very much looking forward to joining us in September.
Sadly, Mr Metcalfe will be leaving us at the end of the term. Mr Metcalfe has done a wonderful job in school as our Designated Safeguarding Lead and I know he has worked closely and supported many of our families. We will miss Mr Metcalfe and cannot thank him enough for everything he has done to support our children and the wider school community. We wish Me Metcalfe all the very best for his future endeavours.
Mrs Fell will be known as Miss Aitken from September.
We are very much looking forward to our final full week in school, which will include our second transition day to take place on Monday. School will then also be open for the children on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd July.
Have a lovely weekend, with very best wishes
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Children are not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Children are not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.

What's Cooking?
Team Humber have been back in Cook School this week. They have enjoyed making pizza in preparation for their Graduation event next week. The children were able to use a range of cooking techniques including measuring, weighing, mixing, kneading, rolling and decorating and they had the opportunity to 'taste test' a slice of pizza at the end of the lesson. The pizzas look amazing so I am looking forward to them serving them to you next week.
I will continue to work with Team Humber next week as we will be cooking up another tasty treat for the Year 6 Graduation. All will be revealed next week!.

Cook School Lead
Dear parents and carers,
Many of our children have been talking about the online game "Amongus". This game is rated 7+ and is a game that many of our children are able to play. We have been speaking to some of our KS1 children about the game and what might be seen as inappropriate. As with many online games, there are areas that parents and carers need to be aware of when your child is playing this game.
I have shared a poster below with lots of information about the game and what the worries are around this game.
Warm regards
Mr Metcalfe

Arbor will replace Parent Hub
On 22nd July 2025, Parent Hub will no longer be available as we have come to the end of the contract. We will be replacing all its functions with Arbor which can be accessed either through the mobile or tablet app or through the portal on your laptop or computer.
We have just started using Arbor for digital storage across Ebor Academy Trust and staff are finding it very user friendly. Eventually we would like to use just this one Arbor platform for all our communications, payments and bookings, but we are taking one step at a time, and the first one is our direct messages and more general notifications to parents and carers at Staynor Hall School. We will keep you informed as we grow and use Arbor more fully.
Miss Johnson and Mrs Foster in our school office have undergone training on this new Arbor platform and will be more than happy to help you with it.
You will be able to access messages on Arbor from 30th June 2025

What is Arbor?
Arbor is a Management Information System (MIS) - a digital storage system for the details we must hold on our children, parents and staff to ensure the smooth running of our schools. It orders and distributes the information we gather to provide our staff with the up-to-date and accurate information they need, while keeping your data as secure as possible.
Why the change?
Unfortunately, the old MIS system isn’t a viable option anymore as the company is winding down its operations in this area.
For Parents/Carers
We have started using Arbor to streamline internal Trust processes. At the moment we use a variety of different platforms and we know that this can be frustrating for both staff and parents. One of the key reasons we chose Arbor was that we will be able to limit the amount of different platforms we have in the future as we start to use more of Arbor’s functions.
Why Arbor
The Ebor team has put a great deal of work into ensuring we identified the very best fit for the needs of our schools. We went through a rigorous and lengthy system of checking the other options, with our main priorities being ease of use and security. We are 100% confident that Arbor was best placed to offer the solutions to our needs and the number one choice available.
On 22nd July 2025 ParentPay will no longer be available as we have come to the end of the contract.
We will be replacing all its functions with Arbor which can be accessed either through the mobile or tablet app or through the portal on your laptop or computer.
To be able to use Arbor for Payments, you will need to set up your Arbor account. Emails have recently been shared.
Miss Johnson and Mrs Foster in our school office have undergone training on this new Arbor platform and will be more than happy to help you with it.
You will be able to access payments on Arbor from 23rd July 2025. Any credits and/or debits on ParentPay will be transferred to Arbor - this is a manual process, so it may take some weeks for this to show on Arbor.
