Good afternoon,
What a week it has been! We started the week off by being creative in our curriculum lesson. The team presented their ideas in various ways such as songs, 2-page spreads and slides to answer the question ‘Were Anglo Saxons good warriors?’. We then went on a trip to Selby High to create our own Anglo Saxon shields in their DT workshops which was epic! We finished our independent narratives and we can’t wait to read them to our reading buddies next week. In Science, we conducted a science experiment looking at the size of shadows.
Next week:
English: We will be doing a fun and creative writing project where the children will create their own characters, setting and plot, before writing it together as a team and publishing it on book creator.
Creative curriculum: We will be answering the overall topic question, ‘Were Anglo Saxons better farmers or warriors?’
Maths: We will be continuing our learning on non unit fractions.
PE: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Tuesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday. This is the last week of homework!
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
