Good afternoon,
This week the children created some fantastic moving toy models of Selby Abbey during its great fire of 1906 using cam mechanisms. We are so proud of all of them for their determination, resilience and collaboration to each complete their projects. In English we are writing narratives inspired by an animation called The Wishgranter. This week we generated some vocabulary ideas to use and looked at using adverbs and adverbial phrases in our writing. In Science we began our new unit learning about ‘Light’. The children enjoyed investigating objects to see if they are a light source or not.
Coming up next week:
Team Dove’s sharing assembly is next Tuesday at 2:50pm - 3:10pm.
English: We will be continuing our narrative about The Wishgranter and will be writing our first and second paragraphs, using adverbs and adverbial phrases.
Maths: We will be continuing with our fractions unit and will be focusing on unit fractions.
Year 3 & 4 PE: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Year 3 PSHE: We will be continuing our topic ‘Relationships’. This week we will look at knowing the difference between secrets and surprises and understanding not to keep adult secrets both on and offline and when to support a friend to tell a trusted adult. We will also look at judging what kind of physical contact is acceptable and unacceptable and how to respond.
Year 4 PSHE: We will be continuing our topic ‘Relationships’. This week we will look at knowing physical boundaries and how to say no to unwanted touch and how to gain consent for appropriate touch.
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
