Good afternoon,
This week in Geography, the children learnt about whether Poland is similar to the UK and other European countries, focusing on food, tourism, celebrations/traditions and weather. The teams finished their non-chronological reports all about Poland and we are so proud of the independent work they have created! They enjoyed publishing their final reports on their chrome books including images and writing captions. In Science, we learnt all about a plant’s life cycle from germination to seed dispersal.
Creative Curriculum - This week is our third learn through week all about ‘Masters of the Arts’. As part of learn through week we get an opportunity to take part in some circus skills.
English - We are writing our own ‘Once upon a Dream’ poems and entering these into a young writers competition. The children have the opportunity to have their poems published in a book!
Maths Year 3 - We are starting our new topic of ‘fractions’. This week we will be focussing on parts and wholes.
Maths Year 4 - We are finishing our coordinates unit by drawing polygons in the first quadrant by plotting coordinates. Then we will be starting our fractions unit.
PE Year 3- Year 3 will be taking part in rugby with York Knights on a Wednesday afternoon. This means we will no longer have PE on a Tuesday. PE days are now on Wednesdays and Fridays for Year 3.
PE Year 4 - Year 4 have PE on Tuesday and Friday and need to come in their PE kits on these days.
PSHE Year 3 - We are continuing our topic ‘Relationships’. This week we are focussing on knowing people who look after me, my networks and who to go to if I am worried about anything on or offline and how to attract their attention.
PSHE Year 4 - We are continuing our topic ‘Relationships’. This week we are
recognising situations which cause jealousy in relationships and suggest strategies to help when this happens.
