Good afternoon,
We have had a fantastic first week of the new half term in LKS2! As always, the children really threw themselves into our DT Day at the start of the week! The Dollmaker of Krakow, from our Guided Reading text, reached out to us about designing a new product for his toyshop - a miniature model of a traditional Polish church with a ringing church bell which lifts up into the church tower using a pulley mechanism. We then created our design criteria, researched pulley mechanisms and similar products and then designed our unique products. The children had lots of fun making them and showed some great resilience in tricky moments. We also got creative on Thursday in our printing focused Art Day. Here we explored the repeating patterns that are often found on Polish Pisanski (painted eggs at Easter) and designed and created our own printing block. Our egg templates look beautiful and individual with their patterns!
