STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 24th January 2025
Dear Families,
It has been a busy and successful week in school and the children have continued to show brilliant attitudes towards their learning and fabulous behaviour.
We are currently finalising the menu with Apetito which will go-live with School Grid early next week. Your new login details will be emailed to you so please look out for them and set up your account. Your account will work in exactly the same way as it does with Appetite. If you have a credit balance with Appetite, we will arrange for this to be transferred to your new account.
As a reminder, on Friday 31st January to celebrate this year's Chinese New Year we are holding a celebratory Open Doors. If you are free to attend to join your child in doing some special activities, the doors will open for parents at 2.30 p.m.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Please can children not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Please can children not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced and to make sure that all are looking before crossing roads.

Dear parents and carers,
Mental health and wellbeing is something we talk about regularly with the children in school through our PSHE Curriculum. Did you know that every class in the school has the opportunity to share how they are feeling every day they are at school via our morning check-ins. This is safe and useful way for children to share how they are feeling. We recognise that parents and carers can also struggle with their mental health at times and for different reasons. Below I have shared a link to the NSPCC website, which has lots of useful guidance and signposting for when we might be struggling with our mental health.

If at any point you feel that you are struggling with your mental health please reach out and ask for help.
Warm Regards
Mr Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
The rest of Team Calder have been in Cook School this week. They have continued to make Brazilian Cheese Bread. They have been learning about a healthy and varied diet (using the Eat Well Guide) and have had the opportunity to use a range of cooking techniques. These include weighing, measuring, grating and mixing. They have also learnt about the process of how cheese is produced from milk.
Some children from Team Swale, Nidd, Foss and Derwent also attended Cool School this week in celebration of the Chinese New Year. They have enjoyed making some chinese noodles and a chinese lantern.. They got the opportunity to eat their noodles along with some prawn crackers.
The children from Team Foss and Derwent also had the opportunity to make a volcano out of salt dough, bicarbonate soda, vinegar and food colouring which was great fun.
I will be working with Team Nidd next week to continue our celebration of Chinese New Year.
Mrs Soper

Ebor Academy Trust is looking for clerks for some of its schools' governing bodies: Sherburn and Luttons, Sproatley, All Saints’ Hessle, Easington and Patrington and Hob Moor Primary and Haxby Road in York. The role offers occasional/part-time work to clerk governor meetings. If you would like to be involved in school governance and would like some occasional work (45 hours per year, per school), please contact Wendy Harrington on: w.harrington@ebor.academy. You can choose to clerk at just one school or more.
If your child has come home with spare clothing please can we ask that this be returned to school.
Thank you
Thank you to all of the parents who responded to our questionnaire about our Celebrating Difference topic. We have created a response document to show the feedback we got from this questionnaire, which is now on the website. The knowledge progression for the topics Being Me in My World and Celebrating Difference is also now on the school website, which you can find below.
