Good afternoon,
Team Calder have really impressed me with their hard work and determination this week. The Team have used their knowledge of Earth and space to make some amazing orreries (models of our solar system).
Coming up next week:
Curriculum: the children will be discovering why the Vikings chose to settle in England, while exploring 6 figure grid references.
English: the children will be writing an action scene for their Viking saga
Maths: the children will continue to learn methods for short division
Science: the children will be applying their learning about the planets orbiting the sun and will be describing these movements using their models.
PSHE: the children will be learning about Emergency Aid and finding out how to put into practice basic emergency aid procedures and how to get help in emergency situations.
Don’t forget to keep checking Twitter to see what learning we have been up to!
P.E is every Thursday and Friday. Children need to come dressed in PE kit for the whole day. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Homework has been set today and is due next Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. This needs to be recorded in their reading records.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TTRockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Lazenby
