Good afternoon,
It has been another busy week in LKS2! This week we started a new topic in our Creative Curriculum called ‘What’s life like in Poland?’. In Geography we used a map and some compass skills to locate Poland and use directional language to describe where Poland is in relation to other countries in Europe. In English we began a new genre of writing - non-chronological reports! We will be using this non-fiction style of writing to write informative pieces of text about Poland. We have also started a new text in Guided Reading called ‘The Dollmaker of Krakow’. It was really fun to launch our new book with a game of ‘pass the parcel’ with some picture clues about the story! We can’t wait to read it!
Next week:
Drax will be coming into school to complete a couple of fun Scientific workshops with each team throughout the week.
Creative Curriculum: How are the physical features of Poland similar to the UK? (including biomes).
Maths: We will be decomposing 4 digit numbers in different ways and comparing and ordering 4 digit numbers.
English: We will be continuing with writing non-chronological reports about Poland using pronouns.
PSHE Y3: We will be focusing on enjoying facing new learning challenges and working out the best ways to achieve them and how to be motivated and enthusiastic about achieving our new challenge.
PSHE Y4: We will be focusing on knowing how to make a new plan and set new goals even if they have been disappointed and knowing how to work out the steps to take to achieve a goal, and do this successfully as part of a group.
Homework:
Homework will be set on a Friday and is due the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. Please record this in their reading records.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
Don’t forget to keep checking Twitter to see what learning we have been up to!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your continued support,
