STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 17th January 2025
Dear Families,
Thank you to all of our families who joined us in school yesterday afternoon to taste the food which will be provided by our new catering company Apetito. We had lots of positive feedback and we also had feedback which will help shape our decision making when we are looking to decide which meals will be part of our menu. Thank you for all of the open and honest conversations we have been able to have, it really does make a difference when we heard from you and understand our families needs.
We aim to have the menu available to you from the 27th January and we will ask you to continue using the school grid booking system, however, we will need to give you an new login for this. We will share more information about this next week. Apetito will begin serving food from Monday 3rd February. If you have any questions regarding this please contact the admin team.
Please can I remind all parents and careers that when it is a day your child is partaking in PE, they must come to school in full School PE Kit.
A full list of uniform can be located on the school website. But PE is as follows:
Plain black shorts and white T’shirt
Black plimsolls, or outdoor trainers (with non-marking soles)
Plain Navy blue jogging bottoms, navy blue warm top/tracksuit top.
Earrings to be removed or covered in tape/plasters provided by the parent/career.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Dear parents and carers,
Thank you for a great week back to school after the Christmas break. It was great to see all the children back in school learning, playing with their friends and sharing what they got for Christmas!
Can we all please continue to ensure that children are punctual and arrive on time. The start of the day is important to get us all started on the right foot.
Being punctual and on time is one of life’s most important qualities, whether you’re a child, adult, teacher or parent. We recognise that for different reasons we can be late to school and that it can happen to all of us. However, for those children who are frequently late it will soon add up to a lot of missed learning time.
5 minutes late = 3.4 days over the course of a school year
10 minutes late = 6.9 days over the course of a school year
15 minutes late = 10.3 days over the course of a school year
If you are struggling with routines or have worries about your child being late then please contact myself.
Warm Regards
Mr Metcalfe
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Please can children not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Please can children not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced and to make sure that all are looking before crossing roads.

Dear parents and carers,
Thank you all for reading the safeguarding thoughts of week and I hope that you have found them helpful and informative.
Safeguarding is a word that we often speak about in school and plays a huge role in all we do. However, I am aware that many of you may not be as familiar with the term safeguarding. Below I have put some points that defines what safeguarding means and why it is something we take extremely seriously in school. Safeguarding is;
Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
Protecting children from maltreatment whether that is within or outside the home, including online
Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
Ensuring children grow up in circumstance consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
If you have any safeguarding concern please speak to Mr Metcalfe, Mrs Winter or Mrs Danbury
Warm Regards
Mr Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Team Humber and Team Calder have been in Cook School this week. They have continued to make Brazilian Cheese Bread. They have been learning about a healthy and varied diet (using the Eat Well Guide) and have had the opportunity to use a range of cooking techniques. These include weighing, measuring, grating and mixing. They have also learnt about the process of how cheese is produced from milk, along with the process of 'Grass to Glass - the journey of milk'.
Well done to all the children who attended Cook School this week, you all worked really hard and your Brazilian Cheese Breads were amazing. Your knowledge of using a globe was fantastic too. I will continue to work with Team Calder next week.
