Team HUMBER (year 6)

Good afternoon, 

The children are loving our new topic on the Vikings and are very keen to find out more. They’re also enjoying our new book, how to Train your Dragon, where they have been exploring the characters. 

Don’t forget to keep checking Twitter to see what learning we have been up to! 

Coming up next week: 

Next week we will be completing practice papers again. As before, please reassure children if they are saying it’s tricky. There is still lots of content we haven’t covered and this is just so we can see where they might need support. 

English:  the children will be writing the introduction to a narrative based on a Viking saga, using carefully chosen language to interest the reader. 

Maths - the children will be finding a fraction of an amount. 

Curriculum -  the children will be discovering why the Vikings initially invaded England. 

Science - the children will be learning about the planets orbiting around and they will be making an orrery.  

PSHE - the children will be looking at using online platforms, such as Whastapp and the impact discussions on these can have on other people 

Homework:

Reading: the children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown up. 

Spelling: the children need to complete at least 5 spelling games per week. 

Maths: the children will have a task set on My Maths.

Children are expected to access TT Rockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
