Good afternoon,
What a super week the children have had! They thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Eden Camp! This week, in History, the children studied how the allies were suppressed by the Nazis and considered how different people felt about this. In English, the children have continued their stories about being a soldier on the beach of Dunkirk. In Science, we have learnt more about water resistance and conducted an experiment which investigated the effects of water resistance on plasticine. In Maths, we have learnt about partitioning decimals and then using place value knowledge to compare metres and centimetres
Next week:
Curriculum: On Monday next week, we have our Design Technology day, where the children will be making moving pictures that show what happened during the Blitz.
English:the children will be continuing to write their stories based on the evacuation of Dunkirk
Maths: The children will be using their knowledge to calculate with decimal numbers using column addition and subtraction. They will also be rounding decimal numbers with hundredths to the nearest whole number.
PSHE: The children will be looking at friendships, learning how to value them, how to communicate respectfully and what strategies they can develop to help overcome friendship challenges.
PE is taught on Thursdays and Fridays
Children need to come dressed in PE kit for the whole day. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Homework has been set today and is due next Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. This needs to be recorded in their reading records.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
