Reception (Nidd & Swale)

Good afternoon, 

Team Swale and Team Nidd have done lots of learning at school this week! We have loved starting to look at the story 'The Gruffalo' and we now know lots about the number 4. It was really exciting getting our pictures taken too! 

This is what we will be looking at during the next week in English and Maths. The children will also continue to do daily phonics lessons and guided reading.

English - We will be continuing to look at our story 'The Gruffalo'. The children will be having a go at describing the Gruffalo and they will make their own posters to help the mouse find the Gruffalo! During our Rainbow Reading sessions we will be continuing to read Aliens Love Underpants. 

Maths - We will continue to sing counting songs and play number games. We will also be meeting Number 5 and exploring how the numberblocks we have already met can be used to make the Number 5. We will make 5 in lots of different ways and create a 'five world'. 

PE will be on a Monday every week. 

Please send your child with their book bag on Friday as they will be bringing home a wordless reading book, along with a picture book for them to read at home with you. The children will have all read the book three times with an adult in school so they will be eager to share it with you at home. We politely ask that these books are returned to school on the following Friday.
