Good afternoon,
This week the children completed their first independent writes in English. It was great to see them confidently using expanded noun phrases, prepositions and a range of conjunctions. In History, we looked at how Prehistoric people advanced society, looking specifically at clothes, tools, weapons, paint and domesticating animals. In Science, we learnt about the different types of human teeth and their functions.
Curriculum: We will be looking at the question ‘When did history begin?’
English: Next week we will be finishing and publishing our independent Stonehenge setting description.
Maths: We will be continuing using column addition, including regrouping, and using this to solve problems.
PSHE Y3: To know the different types of abuse and that abuse is never a child’s fault and to know that children have the right to be kept safe and to know who a child can talk to if they need help. This will include an NSPCC speak out stay safe assembly and workshop.
PSHE Y4: To know the different types of abuse and that abuse is never a child’s fault and to know that children have the right to be kept safe and to know who a child can talk to if they need help. This will include NSPCC speak out stay safe assembly and workshop.
PE: Dove, Derwent and Foss all have PE on Wednesday and Friday.
Children need to come dressed in PE kit for the whole day. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
