Reception (Nidd & Swale)

Good afternoon, 

Team Swale and Team Nidd have had a fantastic first few weeks at school. We have been so busy getting used to our new classrooms and making new friends. 

We have enjoyed reading ‘The Colour Monster’ and thinking about different feelings. We have also read ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’ and have made our own super shopping lists.

In maths we have had lots of fun singing counting songs and have started to meet the Numberblocks! 

This is what we will be looking at during the next two weeks in English and Maths. The children will also continue to do daily phonics lessons and guided reading.

English - We will be looking at the story of Elmer and thinking about how our differences make us special and unique.

Maths - We will continue to sing counting songs and play number games. We will also be meeting Number 2 and making a ‘two world’.

PE will be on a Monday every week. 

Please send your child with their book bag on Friday as they will be bringing home a wordless reading book. The children will have all read the book three times with an adult in school so they will be eager to share it with you at home. We politely ask that these books are returned to school on Monday morning.
