Basic 3D Design
Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 Length: Semester Prerequisites: None (Intro to IT is recommended)
Basic 3D Design is an elective class for one semester. Students will study and learn the basic concepts of computer-aided design and how it relates to manufacturing. Students will learn the basic concepts related to 2D drawings and 3D design. Students will practice these principles using AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Chief Architect soft-ware. These three Computer-Aided software programs are used in industry. Students will also use the 3D printer to produce ideas and prototypes. Students anticipating entering post-secondary education with a focus in manufacturing, engineering or design should enroll in this class.

Manufacturing Design
Grade Level: 11, 12 Length: Semester Prerequisites: Solid Modeling
Manufacturing Design is an intermediate level elective class for one semester. Students will enhance their design and manufacturing techniques using the solidworks CAD software. Students will be challenged through the semester to design and create multi functional objects and products. The 3D printer will be used to create prototypes of the products and to mass-produce final products. Problem Solving techniques will be used during the design process. Students will also learn the basic principles of mass production with in manufacturing. Students anticipating entering post-secondary education in a manufacturing or engineering field should enroll in this course.
