Basic Construction
Grade Level: 11/12 Length: Semester/ 2 hour block Prerequisites: Intro to IT
Light construction is an elective class that meets for two periods daily for one semester. The primary goal of this class is to show the students basic construction techniques and trades. The Construction Technology Course is designed to introduce students to the skills, knowledge, environments, and occupations of the construction industry. Students will study the importance and impacts of construction on society, plus the steps involved in designing, building, selling and maintaining structures. This course is designed for the student that may have an interest in the construction trades. The course will involve written work, trade math, tests and teamwork. Students anticipating entering post-secondary education in a construction-related field or seeking a job in the construction trades should enroll in this course.
