Hello, Families! Room 214 is a great place to be! We'll learn so many amazing things and have lots of fun doing it. This year, we'll become friends, encourage one another, use patience, and so much more. All you need is your imagination, a great attitude, and really like to LAUGH!!! Let's begin!
Our curriculum in full-day kindergarten is designed to challenge and motivate your little one. It is dynamic, hands-on, and embraces play. In language arts, we follow the science of reading approach to teach reading. This includes phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Children will also learn to write in a variety of styles including narrative, opinion, and informational. In math, we use the iReady Math series. Students will learn shapes, addition, subtraction, place value, problem solving proficiency, and much more all while utilizing fun and interesting manipulatives to discover an understanding of mathematical concepts. In science, we will be learning about weather, pushes and pulls, as well as the needs of plants and animals. Social studies centers around units that explore our classroom and maps, our own personal history, and people in our community. This year is sure to be "one for the books," but we are ready to welcome your little one make it memorable from start to finish!
