Local Reviews:
Jennifer, Winesburg fifth grade: I like this story because it was a short book and anyone could most likely read it and it's very interesting. I also thought the illustrations were very bright and realistic with lots of different colors. I would vote for this book it was very colorful.
Jessica, Winesburg sixth grade: I think this book will win because all of the details and the paintings. The book The Unexpected Love Story of Alfred Fiddleduckling is about a duckling who finds an object in the pond. Then the duckling try's to play the object and makes a beautiful sound. But this is only the beginning of this story.
Briana, Winesburg sixth grade: This book is not what you would think it is about. The Unexpected Love Story of Alfred Fiddleduckling sounds like two people are going to meet each other and fall in love but that's not at all it. The book is about a duckling not falling in love with someone because he fell in love with a playing the fiddle. The pictures are beautiful and almost look like watercolor. I loved this book and I know you will too. This book should win because it has beautiful pictures and it doesn't have lots of words but the pictures tell most of the story.
Lili, Winesburg fourth grade: Captain Alfred loves to play his violin and one day he finds an egg in his violin case. Read the book to find out what he does with the egg. The pictures are very beautiful and detailed. I hope that you vote for this book. I really liked this book.

George, Berlin sixth grade: A duck was born in a fiddle case. A storm came and everyone died but the little duckling. Then the duckling played the fiddle well.
Mikayla, Walnut Creek fifth grade: This book is very funny. The book is about a duck that hatches in a fiddle case. The duck finds an object in the water and it is a fiddle. Then he starts playing it. The illustrations are very detailed. It looks like they are painted. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes animals.
Jacob, Walnut Creek fourth grade: The Unexpected Love Story of Alfred Fiddleduckling did not have the most realistic pictures but it was easy to tell what it is about. I think it had good illustrations and it is an okay overall book but not good enough to win a Caldecott.
